Non-destructive edge bevels using weights

In Edit Mode, select an edge and open the N-sidebar. In the Item tab, under Edge Data, set the Bevel Weight to 1. In the Modifier panel, add a Bevel Modifier and set its Limit Method to Weight. Adjust the Segments and Amount values to get the desired result. You can return to Edit Mode and tweak the Bevel Weight of individual edges to increase or decrease the bevel effect on them specifically.
