Shearing a mesh along a custom axis

To quickly deform your mesh along a specific axis in Edit Mode, use the Shear tool. It lets you shift parts of the mesh along the X or Y axis. If the axes don’t behave as expected, you can change the Gizmo orientation from the top bar. In this example, I snap the 3D Cursor to a face and set the orientation to Cursor to control the shear direction. The default shortcut for the Shear tool is Shift + Ctrl + Alt + S.
